At the Summerville Church of Christ, we are a diverse, family-oriented congregation in the Lowcountry of South Carolina committed to developing a deeper understanding of our faith and living that faith out in our community. We are a body of over 300 believers who love God and exist to bring people closer to Him.
Our congregation is ever-growing, and we are looking to add an Associate Minister to our church staff. This full-time position will work closely with our Senior Minister, Youth Minister, and Shepherds and will strengthen and further our church’s vision of “Relationships Formed, Faith Strengthened.” The Associate Minister will also handle all communication, planning, and logistical processes that allow our church to accomplish its mission more effectively.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about facilitating conversations among ministry teams, proactively identifying opportunities to improve ministry effectiveness and applying solutions, and helping others discover and develop their God-given talents. The Associate Minister should desire to teach and guide the congregation through bible study, preaching, and spiritual advice when consulted.

Associate Minister Job Description
The Associate Minister leads all functional areas in accomplishing the church’s mission. This includes outreach, media, communication, pastoral care, small groups, strategic planning, budgets, administration, and operations.
• Advise and coordinate with the Shepherds and staff in establishing and directing ministry efforts that effectively reach the desired demographics, ensuring all efforts are in direct support of the church’s vision of Relationships Formed, Faith Strengthened.
• Support the ministers and staff through ministry-effectiveness evaluation, discernment, decision-making, and planning.
• Collaborate with the Senior Minister to lead the Deacons and Ministry Team Leaders, including maintaining the ‘big picture’, overseeing ministry events and efforts, planning and leading meetings, and equipping them in their specific roles.
• Work closely with the Senior Minister on the formation, publication, and execution of regular three-year Strategic Plans and then focus on the monthly execution of the plan in coordination with leaders across the congregation.
• Provide Biblically-grounded and effective teaching and preaching on a pre-determined schedule and when filling in for others as needed.
• Lead the Stewardship Ministry Team in support and development of annual budgets and budget processes that fund the accomplishment of the strategic plan and meet critical objectives.
• Lead intentional outreach efforts, including exploring and potentially developing area-wide church plants.
• Lead the church's small group ministry by identifying and training leaders, coordinating the formation of groups and schedules, producing sermon-based study guides, and monitoring the health of groups throughout the year.
• Directly lead the development and implementation of a Men’s Ministry, including building a dedicated ministry team and annual schedule of events.
• Actively seek opportunities annually to grow personally and professionally through education, seminars, retreats, or other similar experiences.
• Champion the ongoing development of and consistent adherence to systems and processes by all ministry and support areas that support the church's healthy, long-term, and sustainable growth.
• Coordinate weekly with the church secretary and other stakeholders on pertinent administrative duties to manage the regular business of the building and grounds, staff support, and other crucial and routine processes.
Youth Minister Job Opening
The Summerville Church of Christ is seeking to hire a full time Youth Minister to serve as part of the Ministry Team which consists of two Ministers, four Shepherds, and three Youth Deacons. The ideal candidate would incorporate our church’s vision of “Relationships Formed, Faith Strengthened” and the values of Belong, Grow, Serve and Share.
Our youth ministry consists of an active, healthy student body that is supported by a loving and engaged congregation. The position is responsible for continuing to maintain and grow an inclusive, service minded, well-rounded spiritual, and social oriented program. The candidate should have a passion for Biblical teaching, training, and developing our sixth through twelfth grade students to grow and express their Christian faith. The youth minister will set an excellent example for our students and stress the importance of Christianity in their personal life and in their association with others.

Here you can find our short, ongoing training series designed to guide and grow you as a small group leader. Please listen to the first two prior to your first meeting and listen to at least three others during your first ten-week season. These are designed to be easy to digest and to be listened to on-the-go, but they are also important enough to sit down with a pen and paper to take notes as you listen.
